Start with a 07:30 museum, do the Marble Mountains before the heat, give the afternoon to the beach, and keep the evening for the river. Museums close at 17:00; the beach has no closing time; the bridge fires at 21:00 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The shape of the day
A day in this city has one fixed constraint: the tickets stop at 17:00. After that, only the beach and the streets are open, which is why the museums belong in the morning and the river in the evening.

Morning: one museum, not two
The Cham Museum opens at 07:30 and takes ninety minutes. It is the better of the two museums for a short trip: one collection, one building, and sculpture you will remember rather than labels you will not.
The Da Nang Museum (08:00–17:00, 50,000₫) is the alternative if you want city history rather than Cham sculpture. Doing both before lunch is possible and is usually a mistake — the second one gets a tired twenty minutes.
Middle: the Marble Mountains
Nine point seven kilometres south, fourteen minutes, gates at 07:00 and last entry well before 17:00. Thuy Son is 40,000₫; the lift is 15,000₫ one way, 30,000₫ return, and on a hot day the return is worth it.
Two hours is the honest figure: caves, terraces, and the walk between them. It is the one outdoor sight in the city that survives heat, because the caves are cool and the terraces take the breeze.
If you are travelling with children or in the wet season, take the lift both ways. The stairs are polished marble and a wet sole on them is the one accident this itinerary can produce.
Afternoon and evening
The afternoon belongs to My Khe: 4.7 km from Han Market, six minutes, no ticket, no closing time, and at its easiest after 16:00 when the sand cools.
Then the river. Dinner at 19:00, and if it is Friday, Saturday or Sunday, the bridge at 20:45 — two minutes of fire, three of water, and a crowd that dissolves in ten minutes. Walk away rather than call a car.
If your day is a Tuesday, the bridge does nothing and the river is still worth the walk. That is the difference between planning the day and planning around one event.
If you only have half a day
Half a day gets one of two plans. Morning: Cham Museum at 07:30, then the Marble Mountains — compact, close together, and finished by 12:00.
Afternoon: My Khe from 16:00, then the river and dinner. No tickets, no closing time, and the two hours people remember from a short trip.
Son Tra and Ba Na both take half a day by themselves and neither fits a half-day trip to the city. If the choice is between them, Son Tra is 12.8 km to the pagoda and needs no ticket; Ba Na is a 1,000,000₫ ticket and a cable car queue.
If it rains on your one day
Swap the Marble Mountains for the second museum, and keep the beach hour only if the sky opens. The rest of the day — a 07:30 start, lunch, the river at dusk — works in rain without changing.
The bridge show has no published rain policy, so treat a wet evening as a coin toss rather than a plan. Dinner is not affected, and the walk back is shorter than you think.
One day in wet season is still a fair sample of the city: the museum is the strongest indoor hour, and the streets dry between bands of rain within twenty minutes.

Questions people ask
Can you see Da Nang in one day?
The city core, yes: one museum, the Marble Mountains, the beach and the river. Son Tra, Ba Na and Hoi An each need their own half-day.
What closes first?
Everything ticketed: 17:00 at the museums and the Marble Mountains. The beach and the streets do not close.
Is one day enough for Ba Na Hills?
Not with the city. Ba Na is 29.8 km from the airport, opens at 08:00, and the visit runs into the afternoon.
Where should we eat?
We do not rank restaurants. The river side for a view, the streets behind Han Market for local food, and the beach road for seafood — all within six minutes of each other.
