Ba Na Hills: how long to actually spend there

A realistic clock for the cable car, the Golden Bridge and the French Village — plus what to do with the afternoon you get back.

Short answer

Plan six to eight hours door to door from Da Nang, with four to five of them on the mountain. Leave the city at 07:00, be at the cable car base before 08:00, and take the descent by about 15:00.

Why six to eight hours, and not three

The mountain is 31.8 km west of the city centre, about 29 minutes by car with clear roads, and the last stretch climbs. That is an hour of your day gone before you queue for anything. At the other end, the park stays open until 22:00, which tempts people into a late start — the wrong call, because the thing you came for is a view and the cloud builds through the afternoon.

Inside the gate, four things eat time: the cable car up, the Golden Bridge, the French Village, and lunch. The Golden Bridge itself is a 150-metre walk and 30 to 45 minutes with photographs. The French Village is where a day disappears — it is a full replica streetscape with gardens, a church, squares and food, and it rewards an hour and a half rather than twenty minutes.

What the ticket costs, and the rule almost nobody quotes

For a visitor from outside Da Nang the adult ticket is 1,000,000₫ (about 40 USD). Children between 100 cm and 140 cm and visitors aged 70 and over pay 800,000₫ (about 32 USD), and children under 100 cm enter at no charge. If you are a Da Nang resident the price drops to 650,000₫ and 550,000₫ — bring proof of address, because the difference is real.

The one-ticket, three-day policy is the most useful thing on this page and the most misreported. The three-day use is not automatic and it is not bought online: you have to upgrade from a one-day ticket at the ticket counter and complete FaceID registration at the gate before your first ride. Do that on the morning you arrive, and a mountain that was going to be a washout becomes a two-visit plan. Skip it, and your second day on the mountain costs full price again.

One more price matters if you are 18 to 25. From 1 September to 31 December 2026 Sun World runs FIRST 18-25: cable car only 500,000₫ (about 20 USD), cable car plus a food voucher 750,000₫, or cable car plus the lunch buffet 800,000₫, for anyone born between 2001 and 2008. You show a national ID card, passport or the VNeID app at the gate. The discount is real, but check whether it combines with the three-day upgrade before you queue.

Back in the city by four: what still works

This is the part most guides skip. You come down with three hours of daylight and a plan that already used its big item. Here is what genuinely fits, with the closing times that decide it.

If you are going in October

October averages 658 mm of rain across 21 rain days at the Da Nang station — the wettest month of the year, and the month most likely to hide the bridge. The summit also runs cooler than the city: the tourism portal puts Ba Na's summer range at 17–20°C, with evenings that drop further, so a jacket is not optional even when the beach is 32°C.

The practical move is to hold the counter upgrade and go on whichever morning looks clearest, even if that means swapping it with a beach day. Watching the forecast from a hotel room in An Thuong is easy; watching it from a cable car in cloud is not.

Before dinner, an hour that undoes the mountain

LENA Nails & Beauty (our salon)

A day at Ba Na is mostly standing: cable car queues, stone steps, the bridge, the village. LENA is an indoor stop with no weather risk, open 8:30–20:30 at three branches — An Thuong is the closest to the beach strip, Son Tra the closest to the river.

The VIP 4-in-1 foot spa is 400,000₫ (about 16 USD): a soak in a single-use basin liner, then a salt scrub, mud mask and lotion, with a scent to choose from five. The Deluxe version at 300,000₫ (about 12 USD) skips the soak and is the shorter option if you want to be at dinner by 19:00. Staff speak English and Vietnamese.

Questions people ask

How long do people usually spend at Ba Na Hills?

Four to five hours on the mountain is the norm for the bridge, the French Village and lunch. With the 29-minute drive each way, plan six to eight hours from the city. Anything under four hours on the mountain means skipping the village.

Is one day enough, or should I stay overnight?

One day covers it. Staying overnight buys you the mountain after the day visitors leave and before they arrive, which is worth it for photographers and not much else — and the hotels up there are priced accordingly.

Can I go in the afternoon instead?

You can — the park is open until 22:00 — but you are gambling on the view. Cloud builds from midday at 1,500 m, and the Golden Bridge photographs well before 09:30. If you only have an afternoon, check the forecast and consider the three-day upgrade.

What is not included in the ticket?

Food and drink on the mountain, plus a few indoor attractions that are ticketed separately. The cable car, the Golden Bridge and the French Village are inside the 1,000,000₫ ticket.
