Plan backwards from the flight. The airport is 6 km from the An Thuong strip, ten minutes. Museums close at 16:30–17:00, so a morning museum plus a beach afternoon is the shape that works; Ba Na and Hoi An do not fit on a departure day.

Work backwards from the flight
The airport is 6 km from the An Thuong and My Khe strip — ten minutes in normal traffic, twenty in the rain. That is close enough that the last day is not lost to travel, which is unusual for a beach destination and worth using.
We do not publish a check-in time, because it is your airline's rule rather than the airport's. What we can give you is the constraint on the other end: every museum and site in the city shuts between 16:30 and 17:00, so the last useful hours of sightseeing end well before most evening flights.

| Place | Closes | Ticket |
|---|---|---|
| Cham Museum | 17:00 | 60,000₫ |
| Da Nang Museum | 17:00 | 50,000₫ |
| Marble Mountains | 17:00 | 40,000₫ |
| My Khe beach | No closing time | No ticket |
What fits in a morning
The Cham Museum opens at 07:30, costs 60,000₫, and takes about ninety minutes. It is the strongest indoor hour in the city and it is 2 km from Han Market, which makes it the natural first stop on a day when you are carrying bags.
After that, the beach. My Khe is 4.7 km from Han Market, six minutes, with no ticket and no closing time — which makes it the only thing in the city you can do right up to the moment you leave for the airport.
If your flight is late and you want one more proper outing, the Marble Mountains (9.7 km, 14 minutes) work in the morning but not after 15:30: they need two hours and the gates close at 17:00.
Luggage, and the awkward hours
The gap between check-out and your flight is the practical problem, not the sightseeing. Most hotels will hold bags after check-out — confirm it when you book rather than on the morning — and that turns four awkward hours into a normal afternoon.
We do not publish a list of left-luggage offices or their prices, because we could not check them and a wrong address on a departure day is worse than no address. Your hotel is the answer that stays true.
What does not fit
- Ba Na Hills. The cable car base is 31.8 km west and the visit is 07:00 to mid-afternoon; on a departure day it is a gamble you lose.
- Hoi An. 32.2 km south, 30 minutes each way, and the old town is worth an evening rather than a rushed hour.
- The Son Tra top road. 18.6 km and 32 minutes up, with a view that needs clear weather.
The pattern is simple: on the last day, stay inside the 10 km ring. It contains the museums, the beach, the market and the airport, and none of those will make you miss a flight.
If it rains on the last day
A wet departure day is easier than a wet beach day, because the two things that still work are indoors: the Cham Museum from 07:30 and the Da Nang Museum from 08:00, both closing at 17:00 and both within two kilometres of the river.
What changes is the airport run: ten minutes becomes twenty in heavy rain, and the road to the airport floods in the lowest spots during an October downpour. Leave earlier than you think you need to, not later.
A worked example
Take a 20:00 flight. Check out at 11:00, leave the bags at the hotel, and walk the river side until lunch. The Cham Museum closes at 17:00, so it is an afternoon stop at 14:30 rather than a morning one, and it takes ninety minutes.
That leaves 16:30 to 17:30 for the beach, which never closes, and 18:00 for the bags and the airport run. It is a full day rather than a waiting day, and it never goes further than 6 km from the terminal.
A rest hour near the end of the day
LENA Nails & Beauty (our salon)
By late afternoon on a wet day your shoes are finished and the museums are closing. LENA is an indoor stop with fixed prices and no weather risk, and all three branches are a short Grab ride from My Khe and An Thuong.
The Deluxe Foot Spa is 300,000₫ (about 12 USD): shaping, cuticle work, heel scrub, dead skin removal, a hot towel and a cream massage, with no soak. The VIP 4-in-1 at 400,000₫ (about 16 USD) adds the soak in a single-use liner, a salt scrub, mud mask and lotion, with five scents. Staff speak English and Vietnamese; open 8:30–20:30.

Questions people ask
How long before my flight should I leave Da Nang?
That is your airline's rule, not a city fact — but the drive is short: 6 km and about ten minutes from An Thuong, twenty in rain.
What can I do on a departure day?
A morning museum (07:30–17:00) plus the beach, which never closes. Both are within a few kilometres of the airport road.
Can I leave my bags somewhere?
Ask your hotel — most hold bags after check-out. We do not publish a left-luggage list because we could not check one.
Is there time for Ba Na before an evening flight?
No. It is 31.8 km each way and the visit runs from 08:00 into the afternoon; on a departure day you would be watching the clock, not the bridge.
