April averages 50 mm over 7 rain days, with 30.9°C by day and 24.0°C at night. The sea is at its warmest and the rain is short, but by 11:00 the sand is too hot to cross barefoot, so split the day in two.

What April is like
April is the month the dry season takes over properly. Rainfall is 50 mm over seven rain days — light, usually short — the average maximum reaches 30.9°C, and the nights are 24.0°C, which is the first month when air conditioning matters at night.
It is also the start of the climb: May 33.4°C, June 34.9°C, July 34.4°C. April is the last month when the heat is a preference rather than the main subject of the trip.
Visitors notice the light more than the temperature: the sky is clearer than in March, the photos look better, and the beach at 16:00 is the busiest hour of the day.
The beach month
My Khe is 4.7 km from Han Market — six minutes — with no entry ticket and no closing time. In April the water is warm enough to stay in, which changes the day: two long swims instead of one short one.
The flags still decide. April has fewer red-flag days than August, but the rule does not change with the month: red means no, and runoff after heavy rain closes the water for a day.
Sunbeds and umbrellas are set by each operator and we do not print those prices. Ask before you sit down — it is the same conversation you would have anywhere on this coast.

| Window | Temperature | What works |
|---|---|---|
| 06:00–09:30 | 24–29°C | Beach, museum, walking |
| 11:00–15:00 | 31–34°C | Indoors, water, or a long lunch |
| 16:00–18:30 | 29–31°C | Beach, river, bridge at 21:00 |
The Marble Mountains are the one outdoor sight that survives April, because the caves are cool and the terraces catch the breeze. Go at 07:30 and the lift (15,000₫ one way, 30,000₫ return) is a convenience rather than a necessity.
Three cheap habits: water before coffee, a hat rather than sunscreen on the hairline, and the museum at 11:00 rather than the beach.
April against May
May is 2.5°C hotter at the peak, 21 mm wetter, and the month when the city starts to feel like a hot country. April keeps the evenings usable; May shortens them.
If you are choosing between them and the beach is the point, May; if you want to walk the city and eat outside, April. Both are good months and neither is the busy one — that is March, and then June.
What April does not give you is the rainy-season quiet: the streets are full, the cable car at Ba Na has a queue by 09:00, and Hoi An at dusk is a crowd rather than a lane.
Getting around in April
Everything is close: the airport is 6 km from the beach strip and 3.5 km from Han Market, the Marble Mountains are 9.7 km, and Hoi An is 32.2 km south.
The one journey worth timing is Ba Na: 31.8 km west, about 29 minutes, and the cable car queue builds from 09:00. Leaving at 07:00 in April is the difference between a bridge photo and a bridge crowd.
Grab quotes before you book and that is the only price that stays true in April, when demand moves with the heat — mid-afternoon rides are cheaper than the 21:00 rush back from the river.
What April fills up
April is a domestic holiday month in Vietnam, and the last week before the national holidays is when rooms on the beach strip start to disappear. It is not the Tet squeeze, but it is not March either.
Book the room and the Ba Na ticket; leave the day tours loose. April rain is short and rare, so a fixed date is usually safe — but the cable car queue is the thing you cannot buy your way out of.
One more: restaurants on the river side fill between 19:00 and 21:00 in April, because the evenings are exactly the temperature people came for.
